Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment

Whenever I venture to Whole Foods I can always count on a few things. One, overspending on groceries. And two, perusing the health and beauty department for an extended period of time. Chicago’s Lincoln Park Whole Foods is the world’s third largest and the beauty department does not disappoint. It’s an absolute haven for organic beauty products. I recently discovered some brilliant hair care from Avalon Organics, a line I’ve probably walked by dozens of times before. It really is a hidden gem, very unassuming with its green, sometimes giant, bottles. Seriously, a giant 32 oz. bottle of organic shampoo for less than $20? Done and done.

I’ve given up sulfates in hair care, so Avalon’s plant-based formulas appealed to me. The Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo and Conditioner is enriched with vitamins and minerals, including wheat protein which helps give strands a boost of volume. The tea tree oil and eucalyptus provide just the right amount of tingly cool feeling and there’s a slight purifying quality about this formula that I really like. I can’t wait to try the Grapefruit & Geranium blend and the Ylang Ylang shine formula next.

I make it a point to only wash my hair a few times each week, carefully coordinated around workouts, and I find myself wanting to squeeze in an extra lather just so I can experience the tingly cool aroma. Check it out on your next Whole Foods trip – it will give you an excuse to spend a little more time in the beauty section!
