Cherry Blossoms In Bloom

Two words: patio season. I had dinner outside this weekend and it was glorious. Those first few patio moments after winter make all of the bundling and freezing seem worth it. It’s also prime time for the cherry blossoms. I was bombarded with pictures from DC friends this weekend. That was always one of my favorite parts about living in DC.  Spring in Chicago has its perks, but a view of the cherry blossoms from a paddle boat in the Tidal Basin might trump a patio dinner. Maybe. On to this week’s pretty picks!

Rifle Paper Co. captured the cherry blossoms perfectly with this print. // This DKNY Trench can be worn a handful of different ways, thanks to an optional capelet. // These flats (by Toms!) actually look like they’d be worn by a ballerina. I adore them. // Aerin makes insanely beautiful palettes and this one for face and eyes is at the top of my wish list. // Tarte’s pepperminty lipsurgence pencils now come in a lip gloss. // Cosmetic bag meets clutch…how adorable is this speckled pattern? // Bobbi Brown now makes eyewear and this blush pair of sunnies are so chic. // ILIA multi-stick in Tenderly is the perfect cherry blossom pink hue.

December: The List… ShopStyle Edition

Sparkle! Fur! Glitter! And more glitter and sparkle, please. That, my friends, is how this next month is going to go down. Rather than just tell you, I teamed with ShopStyle to also show you. The December List is inspired by ShopStyle’s latest print ad campaign. My modeling debut? Hardly…but it was fun! Let’s discuss my style priorities for December.

Sequins. I’m sure there are studies out there that show how wearing sparkle improves your mood. Whenever I wear this skirt I’m always more cheery. I picked it up at Old Navy this fall. I saw it once and never again – online or in store. I’m so happy I acted fast. The gold top on the upper right is from J. Crew a few years ago. Season after season, it’s still one of my most beloved tops.

Cozy knits and skinny jeans. Thick infinity scarves, like this one from Old Navy, are a staple around my neck. I’m also tempted to get this Madewell sweater in every color. It’s so warm, easy to layer with and the suede elbow patches are the cutest. You will also find me wearing the Gap Legging Jeans pretty much every day. I have them in several colors and the ankle version is the perfect length for my short frame.

Neutral accessories. I like my holiday ice and accessories to be on the neutral side. My husband bought me this mini Rebecca Minkoff tote for our anniversary (I know…he’s a keeper) and it allows me to carry a surprisingly large amount of stuff. Also, these fur-laced Stephanie Johnson makeup bags double as clutches. I’m especially obsessing over this one — love the gold tassels!  I wear this BaubleBar necklace every other day—one of my favorite purchases all year!— and am loving the Kate Spade-esque bracelet that came with the Tarte “Off the Cuff” Blush Palette. It sold out everywhere, so if you find it, do not hesitate.

Flawless skin. Nicky Kinniard gave me a sample of the Cane & Austin glycolic treatment pads and they are a lifesaver, especially when my skin is taking hit after hit. Between hardly any sleep, more wine than usual and holiday cookies, these will be a critical step in my nightly routine.

Big hair. No time like the holidays to make you want to backcomb your hair. I just discovered the miracle that is Oscar Blandi Dry Teasing Dust. If I’m tying it back, I’ll be doing so with these sparkly ties from Kitsch.

Red lips, sparkly tips. Butter LONDON released sparkly “overcoat” nail polishes for holiday that you layer over your existing polish. Stardust makes everything look holographic. Red lips are so festive and I’ll wear that more days than not this month. But a girl needs options, which is why the Tarte 8-piece mini Lipsurgence set is so perfect.

The Anti-April Fools: Spring Beauty Sale at Sephora

The long weekend was pretty great — the warmest days in months, Easter festivities and an excess of Starburst jelly beans and Napoleon (family Easter dessert tradition!) On Saturday, I even did a little outlet shopping. It was the combination of ideal weather and sales (50% off at J Crew Factory!) that put me in the mood to shop shop shop. Some time during my sugar-induced haze, I stumbled onto Sephora’s spring clearance online. There’s some major beauty loot to be had! I promise, no April Fools tricks here (I really despise  April 1 and its prankiness). Here’s what’s tempting me most…

I’ve been eyeing up the Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Conceal & Brighten duo for what it seems like ever. A 50% off sale is just the encouragement I need to give it a try. A concealer filled with PTR’s signature blend of peptides and wrinkle-fighters as well as a multi-tasking illuminator that can be used anywhere you need a little luminosity? Sounds dreamy, right?

Tarte’s holiday collection was just one huge ball of awesome – especially the Maracuja Rollerball Collectors Set (prettiest packaging!) that is now no sale. Three mini rollerballs filled with the a facial oil rich in vitamin C and fatty acids.

Sephora makes phenomenal face brushes (this one is an all-time fav) but they can be a bit splurgey, which is why 50% off is so major. While most have already sold out, this Sephora Pro-Tapered Foundation version is still in stock. This would be perfect for getting concealer or foundation around the eyes, nose and just for extra precision.

On the exterior, Tarte NeutralEYES Shadow Palette looks like a fab wallet but – surprise! – it’s actually 10 neutral eyeshadows, a double-ended brush and an eyeliner. I have this and love it — and the fact that it is 40% off is kinda mind-blowing.

Happy Monday! I hope you successfully avoid any April Fools duping. Remember, trust no one.
